The expressions
What are expressions?
Expressions are instructions
you tell an object on the card to execute. Expressions in eMedia Card
Designer work like formulas do in your favorite spreadsheet. As eMedia
Card Designer uses the same function names and features than Microsoft™
Excel™ or Microsoft™ Visual Basic for Applications™, you may build complex
formulas as you do in your worksheets.
Entering expressions
To create an expression in
design mode that would be calculated while printing your card:
-
Create a text object or a
barcode object.
-
Set the "Source" property to
"Expression".
-
Enter your formula in the
"Data" property.
A
wizard is also
provided, giving you all the help available about the functions you may
use in your expressions. An online help is also available into the
software.

Other features
There are two other ways to extend
the capabilities of eMedia Card Designer: plug-ins and COM
features. Depending on your development skills and on your needs, you may
explore these ways:
You have some development
skills, able to create simple applications using Microsoft™ Visual
Basic™ or Microsoft™ Visual C++™?
Learn how plug-ins may help you.
You are an integrator,
wanting to include eMedia Card Designer in your own solution?
Learn how
COM features may help you.
All these ways may help you
to obtain really intelligent cards, or to use eMedia Card Designer as a
card printing tool inside of your own solution.
