Frenquently Asked Questions
The eMedia Card Designer technical support ends on June 1st, 2016. You may now refer to the following:
WHY IS THE SUPPORT ENDING?The support is running since the release of eMedia Card Designer back in 1999 and all the good things come to an end. The team is now focused and supporting the new eMedia CS version released in 2011. More information available at: http://www.emedia-cs.com/ I HAVE AN EVOLIS PEBBLE OR DUALYS PRINTER, WHAT DO I DO?eMedia Card Designer is bundled with the Evolis Pebble and Evolis Dualys printers This means that with these printers, the software copy automatically switches to the Standard Edition each time you print on the bundled printer model, and reverts to the Trial Edition if you try to print on any other printer. --> Please note that you don’t have a license when you use a bundle. These two printers are discontinued and we do not provide support for the bundle version anymore. If you want to continue with us, contact your reseller to get the new eMedia CS version. EVEN WITH MY PEBBLE OR DUALYS, IT PRINTS "DEMONSTRATION" ON MY CARDS.The bundle only works with the official drivers from Evolis website. It doesn’t work with the generic Windows Update Drivers that you get when plugging your printer without the Evolis one installed first hand. If your printer is detected as “Pebble X” in your computer’s devices, the above bundle can’t work. Check that you have the demonstration mode deactivated and also that Card Designer is launched at least once with administrator rights. I CAN'T GET THE OLD EVOLIS DRIVERS INSTALLED TO MAKE MY BUNDLE WORK.The old driver is not digitally signed. The necessary needs to be done under recent Windows version to have them used. We don’t offer support for the installation of any printer manufacturers drivers. Contact your reseller to purchase a license key if none of the above two cases works. DOES EMEDIA CARD DESIGNER SUPPORT WINDOWS 10?eMedia Card Designer is an old Lady, but supports windows 10. However the "Bundle Pebble & Dualys" doesn't work anymore as the Evolis drivers are obsolete The new version eMedia CS can be found on http://www.emedia-cs.com/ but you'll have to purchase a license key. HOW TO MIGRATE MY EMEDIA CARD DESIGNER LICENSE?If you change your PC, format the hard disc or install a new operating system, you need to perform the migration process first. To do so: launch the program, switch to "design mode", open the "Help" menu and select "Migrate your license". This utility will remove the license of eMedia Card Designer from your workstation. You’ll get a Migration key, to enter as the second key on the new computer & operating system. Complete the registration on the webpage and validate. You will receive an e-mail with the Activation Key that corresponds to the Installation Key of your new software copy. I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE MIGRATION PROCESSSomeone has left the company? The contact’s email address is not reachable anymore? Your computer had a failure and you can’t migrate yourself? Referring to: "I just purchased my eMedia Card Designer v6.5 License Key!" If you’re eligible, send us an email and we’ll exceptionally unlock you and do the migration our side. Otherwise, we’re not responsible for any hardware crashes, contact your reseller to get the new eMedia CS. I HAVE DIFFICULTIES LINKING MY EXCEL SPREADSHEETCheck first hand if you have a x64 Microsoft Office installed. If you use an Excel database on your card template under a 64 bits Office, you have to save your MS Excel file as ".xls" and connect as a 1997-2003 format under eMedia. I FOUND A BUG INSIDE EMEDIA CARD DESIGNER V6.5That could be possible, even very rare since it’s running well since years. However, we don’t work anymore on this version and there is a high chance that it’s already fixed under eMedia CS, so check your license eligibility for the upgrade. I HAVE QUESTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE SOFTWAREDon't forget to check the in software help menu by pressing "F1". It may look rubbish but useful information's are explained and detailed there. YOU'RE ALWAYS REFFERING ABOUT EMEDIA CS, WHAT'S CHANGING?For everyone more printer compatibility first hand.
And lot more, you can check up: http://www.emedia-cs.com/page/features IF I UPGRADE TO EMEDIA CS, WHAT HAPPENS WITH ALL MY FILES?All the old template file you got under eMedia Card Designer v6.5 are openable directly with the new version CS. All further modification will be saved under our new file format, but you don’t need to redesign them from scratch. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS MY RESELLERWe don't sell our product in direct but we have partners. Contact us and we'll redirect you to the closest one. CANNOT OPEN EXCEL DATASHEETS ANYMORE SINCE MICROSOFT UPDATE KB4041676In Microsoft Update KB4041676 released in October, 2017, Microsoft decided to remove from your computer the MS-Excel 95-2003 database provider, without your prior consent. As a consequence, eMedia Card Designer, as many other programs, cannot access to MS-Excel 95-2003 datasheets anymore, as eMedia Card Designer only uses standard components to access to databases in order to comply with Industry Standards. Workaround To access to your MS-Excel 95-2003 datasheets, you will have to change the database connection in your card template. Open the "Tools" menu, select "Database connection". Instead of "Microsoft Excel 95-2003 datasheet", select the "Microsoft Excel 2003-2010 datasheet" and click "Next". In the database field, click on the button to select files, and at the bottom, replace in the "File types" combo-box the default choice (XLSX files) to "All files". Browse to the folder containing your XLS file and select it. That's all, it will work again!
